Beat Any Traffic Ticket January 4, 2018

Posted by stevekerp in Current Events, Discipleship, Uncategorized.

Traffic tickets – what a bummer! You’re cruising along, minding your own business and not hurting anyone, when suddenly the blue lights come on and you’re on the hook for $50 … or maybe more …. because some cop stopped you while lots of people going even faster got away scot-free.

Now you can use a legal theory – embraced by MILLIONS of intelligent people – to “educate” the judge in traffic court and hopefully keep YOUR MONEY.

Interested? Read on ….

If you are brought into court after being given a ticket for speeding, you can simply tell the judge about all the times you didn’t speed, and under the legal doctrine of Praeponderat Bono Malum he must let you go. Praeponderat bono malum is Latin for “good outweighs evil.” Your good deeds outnumber your bad deeds. There have been many, many more times that you drove at or under the speed limit. You have been more good than evil. You are basically a “good person.” The judge would be UNJUST if he were to convict you.

This defense will work equally well for any crime. Murder someone and then tell the judge and jury about all the people you haven’t murdered. Steal something and list all the things you didn’t steal. Lie under oath (commit perjury) and then tell the judge all the times you told the honest truth. The judge would lack the expected temperament for his position, one would hope, if he were harsh or unmindful of the fact that — after all — “we’re only human.”

As you may suspect, this sort of “defense” does not work at all! No law school teaches it, and no judge would accept it. But what is really crazy is that a lot of sane and reasonable people are betting their eternity on this doctrine. You probably know a few of them: “I expect to go to heaven because God is fair and I’m a ‘good person.’ My good deeds outweigh my bad deeds. God won’t send me to hell.” This Kool-Aid® has lots of flavors, but they are all basically the same.

When you stand before God, it won’t be for traffic tickets, and your money won’t be at risk. He will examine every detail of your life in the light of His perfect moral law, and for every one of us, there is only one verdict: GUILTY. There is only one punishment: eternal separation from God, and from every good thing that is sourced in Him. There is only one escape: a perfectly innocent substitute who is willing to serve your sentence for you.

This is NOT religion. No religion can save you. No memberships, “good deeds,” intentions, institutionalized rituals, incantations, ceremonies, incense, indulgences, votive candles, monetary offerings, repetitive prayers to specific persons declared as “saints” or even to the one who some refer to as the “queen of heaven” can save you. NONE of these can protect you from God’s wrath against YOUR sins. My friend, you need a specific savior.

God has provided one. Just one, but that’s all you need.

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Head knowledge gets you through a written test, but it’s heart knowledge that transforms a life and changes an eternal destination. Believing thing about Jesus is not the same as believing IN Him. Has your life been transformed? Do you have saving faith? If not, what are you going to do about it? And what are you waiting for?

The Shortest Sermon Ever Preached August 18, 2015

ON (or probably very close to) THIS DAY IN HISTORY: Jonah began his trek through the city of Nineveh, proclaiming “In 40 days, Nineveh will be destroyed.” This was probably the shortest sermon ever preached, but the people believed and repented, and Nineveh was spared.

What about us? We in the U.S. are certainly an overqualified people who have sinned against God by persistent unfaithfulness (Ezekiel 14:13), and are over-ripe for judgment. As a nation, we have hardened our hearts and stiffened our necks against God and His word. Even the so-called “Christians” in this land are, by and large, satisfied to try to placate God with a Sunday ritual, while otherwise ignoring Him. How much time in prayer, Bible study, and Christian fellowship? How much time watching TV? With what do we fill our minds on Saturday night before “going to church” on Sunday morning? Are we really fooling God? Or just ourselves??

Don’t be put off by the judgmental tone of this post. I’m not enjoying this either. But we may have just FORTY DAYS to repent, before God Himself displays His righteous wrath against this land.

In the following article, Michael Snyder lists events that are already planned for September: 10 Things That Are Going To Happen Within 15 Days Of The End Of The Shemitah. He summarizes his conclusions:

As a nation, we have unapologetically embraced evil. We are extremely proud, arrogant, greedy and cold-hearted. I do not believe that there is any hope for our nation unless we are shaken to our core.

I am fully convinced that the months ahead are going to dramatically change life in America, but whether it happens right now or not, I am 100 percent convinced that a great shaking is coming to this nation at some point.

I share his concern. Clearly, significant change in the global village is being planned and implemented. More importantly, there are some compelling reasons to believe that God is about to intervene powerfully in human history. Jonah has a message for us. Are we listening?

Final Fortnight Redux August 2, 2014

We’re currently looking ahead to Tu b’Av, beginning at 12:26 PM Eastern time (which is sunset in Jerusalem) on Sunday, August 10th. For what it’s worth, the moment of full moon will be 1 hour and 44 minutes later, at 2:09 PM Eastern time. I’m not giddy … yet.

This past week, the pre-tribbers were accused of being “God-haters” for believing and preaching the idea that there will be a rapture event before God’s wrath is visited on this planet. Leaving personalities aside, it may be that this escalating hostile rhetoric is a sign that we are truly close to the end. I’m not convinced that it’s a “sign” per se, since the mainstream media and the culture at large have not picked up on it, at least not yet.

However, the hostility against Israel has become noticeably more intense and more global. That, to me is significant. They are speaking less of peace than of temporary cease-fires (also immediately violated by Hamas) and of Israel’s objective: to destroy (rather than just “contain” or “restrain”) their terrorist neighbors in Gaza. The tunneling strategy was apparently to be executed on Rosh Hashannah, and it’s seen as Providential that the Jews found out about it before the plan could be executed. In the meantime, Iran and their nuclear ambitions seem to have lost visibility, and the war in Syria is likewise not getting as much attention.

Putin in Russia seems to think there will be a major war in Europe soon. So this could be the “calm before the storm” even though things in Europe are barely calm. Well-orchestrated and well-funded “spontaneous” demonstrations against the Jews are daily news. The liberals in Congress now want to continue funding Israel’s “Iron Dome” project, while the Republicans are dragging their feet because of financial considerations. Congress has become incoherent.

Finally, the Ebola story is crowding its way into the headlines, replacing the invasion from Mexico and Central America (funded, managed and facilitated by the Regime). So lots of bad stuff to keep us distracted as the door of God’s mercy and the Church Age draw to a close. Lots of religious people are about to get the surprise of their lives. Eight days and counting …. Are you ready?

Are Pre-Tribbers "God-Haters"?

Cute Children and Adorable Pets May 5, 2013

OK – the subject line is a bit deceptive, since what follows says nothing about pets, (though it has plenty to do with cute children). But “America’s Soon and Certain Destruction” would, for many who need to read this, simply motivate them instead to hit the ‘delete’ key. If you are interested in the future … YOUR future …. please read on:

Just in case you are wondering why some are insisting that America is heading for fierce national judgment and why that judgment is now unavoidable, here is the answer:

Inhuman: Undercover in America’s Late-Term Abortion Industry – Arizona

It’s an 8-minute youtube video. Got 8 minutes?? Or are you “too busy”?

Jesus Himself told us to remember the days of Lot, and especially Lot’s wife. Lot was just one man — the only righteous man in Sodom. He was held in contempt by his family and his fellow citizens. His sons-in-law laughed at him when he insisted that judgment was imminent. He could not do anything about the wickedness of his culture, but he at least had the decency to grieve about what he saw. It was his grieving — not futile attempts at political action or cultural correction (and there is no evidence of either) — that caused God to see Lot as righteous (2 Peter 2:7-8 if you want to look it up).

Lot’s wife could have been saved, had she just obeyed her husband. How many “Christian” wives out there think Ephesians 5:22-24 doesn’t apply to them?

Here in America, we are MURDERING CHILDREN and most folks, even those who call themselves Christians, are apparently unconcerned. “It’s the law. I can’t do anything about it.” That’s true; so what? You can SAY something about it. You can certainly pray about it, pray that God might send revival to your city and perhaps spare at least some in your community. Or you can shrug it off, go back to your favorite TV program … and ignore the silent screams of 50 million innocent children who have been slaughtered mercilessly in this country while we looked the other way, went to our Sunday morning church services, and trudged off to our jobs.

God is just, and HIS … JUSTICE … WILL … NOT … SLEEP … FOREVER! And I daresay the screams of those children will be matched by the screams of the callous and indifferent when God judges this land. On that day, there will be no more “business as usual” – no more careers and dinners out and “Dancing With The Stars” while God is placated for an hour on Sundays and most family altars lie in ruins.

Do you care enough to grieve? Do you care enough to cry out? Do you care enough to repent?

Final Countdown? August 14, 2011

Posted by stevekerp in Current Events, End Times.

There are abundant reasons to believe that Jesus Christ will be here very, very soon (like VERY soon!) and it behooves us to keep watching and keep warning.  Like many of you, I want to give clear and succinct information to anyone I can reach, and especially those who are close to me.  My hope is that they will “get it” without being overwhelmed by either the volume or complexity of the message.

The paragraph and links below “make the case” with clarity and simplicity.  One need not be a Bible scholar or astronomer to understand the message.  Believing it is another matter, and we can only pray that God will give grace to believe.

In Restarting Daniel’s 70th Week, Carl Worline wrote:

Several thousand years from now when we are all sitting around in the New Jerusalem reminiscing about how it was “back in the day” on the “Big E” (earth), I am certain that there will be armchair quarterbacks with their 20/20 hindsight who will be proclaiming how they cannot possibly understand why the people on earth could have missed all of the signs and not possibly known the exact day of both the rapture and the 2nd Coming.
What they will fail to realize is that looking backward is easy.  Trying to interpret the signs of the times in advance is almost impossible because there are so many of them.  There are so many signs out there it is becoming increasingly difficult to see the road.

Dear, dear Reader, I am not being theatrical:  Wake up and smell the judgment! Jesus Christ laid it all on the line.  He certified the truth of everything He taught when He rose from the dead.  The Bible is TRUE!  All that stuff is really gonna happen, and there is a mountain of evidence that it will happen soon.  The brimstone is about to hit the spinning blade, and you won’t wanna be here when it does!

I’d like an hour of your life.  Turn off the noise in your life and, first, read Restarting Daniel’s 70th Week by Carl Worline.  (For compelling astronomical evidence that what Carl has written is true, go to Elenin: Does it Fulfill Biblical Prophecy? and view the video.)

Then spend 45 minutes watching Pastor JD Faraq’s Prophecy Update video:

Almost all of the “urgent” stuff in your life is insignificant compared to the true urgency of being ready for the promised return of Christ – OR the very real possibility that you will not survive the terrors that are about to be unleashed on this planet.

I may sound like an alarmist.  So were Noah, Lot, Jeremiah and a host of others.  If your pastor isn’t warning you, then shame on him.  Look at the evidence and think for yourself.

I PLEAD WITH YOU!  Life is more than a mundane grind with a question mark at the end.  Repent and get reconciled.  Take out the trash and strive to become the person you were designed to be.  Judgment and redemption are both on the very near horizon.  Please get ready.

Egyptians in the street – Eye Witness Report February 4, 2011

From: Rafik and Rania

Dear friends,

I am writing this to you as a witness to what is going on from the streets of Cairo over the last few days. Rania and I have been following the developments since January 25th, which started with a large group of Egyptian youth taking to Tahrir square in an anti-government protest with specific demands. I know some of these people who were in that group and I talked with them. What is happening now has nothing to do with this original protest! What is happening right now is a conspiracy to topple Mubarak from outside the country!! I am not a conspiracy theorist, but let me tell you what I have personally witnessed on the streets of Cairo.

I want to share first what the LORD told me on Friday morning.

I went to the LORD in prayer on Thursday evening, praying like many others for protection and for the restoration of peace and security in my land. I told the LORD: “Father, answer my prayers with rain”, which He has several times before. I went to sleep. I woke up on Friday morning and went directly to prayer. Immediately, I sensed a strong urgency from the LORD saying: “As the people of Egypt presented their requests to Mubarak, I am calling on My people to rise up before me and present their requests to me for their nation”. I went on to hear the LORD: “Let the Holy Council assemble”. I didn’t understand who this Coucil was, but I knew in my heart that the LORD meant that there are people in my land that are called by the LORD to stand before him as His Holy Council with authority to make declaration over the land, to establish the Kingdom in the land. My demands to the LORD were not political ny nature. I prayed for “good news to the poor, freedom for the oppressed, healing for the brokenhearted, and the acceptable year of the LORD” as the Holy Spirit gave guidance. The LORD spoke to me the words “JUSTICE” and “TRUTH”. As I went to talk with Rania afterwards, she told me that she had been awake all through the night, and that IT RAINED around 12:45 am. It was very strong, but not for a very long time (a few minutes). I knew then that it was the LORD. The LORD spoke Psalm 97:1-2:

The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice.
Clouds and thick darkness surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.

Indeed, there had been unusual clouds and very thick fog in December over Cairo, unprecedented in frequency and intensity. Again, the words TRUTH (or righteousness in the English translation) and JUSTICE resounded.

As Rania and I followed the unfolding of events including the announced change in government and president Mubarak’s speech, we wondered why the international news media is focusing only on the thousands in Tahrir square who are escalating their demands and refusing dialogue. The news media is reporting this as “the people of Egypt” wanting Mubarak to leave immediately. Did they ask the “people of Egypt?”. For one, they did not ask me! Where are those, like myself, that want change and reform, but accept the changes that Mubarak is proposing, and want a peaceful transition through elections in September?

We decided to take to the streets to voice our opinion. On Tuesday February 1st we went to Mustafa Mahmoud square in Mohandessin. There were about one thousand people there around 3:30 pm. (yes, we broke the curfew). the crowd grew to about 2500 by 5:00 pm. People were calling their friends over the phone telling them to come. We left at about 6:30 pm and returned yesterday, Wednesday, starting at 11:00 am. The small group had swelled to TENS OFTHOUSANDS OF PEOPLE standing together with banners saying things like:

– yes to stability, yes to Mubarak

– give change a chance

– we are sorry Mr. president

– we accept dialogue, we trust you

– no to ElBaradei, no to the muslim brotherhood (many like this one)

– we are the Egyptians, where is Al-Jazeera, let them come and see

– no to corruption, no to vandalism

– we got what we asked the president for, so why are people still in Tahrir? Who are they? What do they want?

etc., etc., etc.

By 2:00 pm, the crowd had grown to SEVERAL HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE, maybe up to a million, stretching from Sphinx square to Sudan street. We had a great sense of unity and victory. We met with people who were in the original protest in Tahrir square who decided to join us saying: “we got what we asked for, and now we accept Mubarak’s changes and proposals.”

We left around 4:15 pm. The numbers had grown even more, POSSIBLY OVER A MILLION. As we drove home we saw the same slogans on banners all over the city, on cars, on walls, on shop windows. We learned that similar demonstrations are taking place ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, IN MAY DIFFERENT CITIES. THIS IS THE CRY OF THE PEOPLE OF EGYPT THAT IS BEING TOTALLY IGNORED BY THE INTERNATIONAL NEWS MEDIA. Is this on purpose??!!! I am perplexed!!! I am wondering: How come CNN, the BBC, and others are reporting ONLY the anti-government protests as the voice of the people? This is not JUSTICE, this is not TRUTH. There have been reports that these people are being paid by the government. NOT TRUE! I was there with many many others. I SAW THE STREETS.

Now to the situation in Tahrir square. Only a few people (hundreds?) are still there from the original protesters. They have been slowly replaced by other HIGHLY ORGANIZED GROUPS. They all have the same model of cell phones. They all have the same blankets (eye witnesses). THESE ARE NOT THE PEOPLE OF EGYPT. Some witnesses claim that they don’t look Egyptians, and don’t sound Egyptians (different accent, different dialect). THIS IS A BIG ORGANIZED COUP TO TRY TO CONVINCE THE WORLD THROUGH THE MEDIA THAT EGYPT WANTS MUBARAK TO GO, AND THE MEDIA IS PART OF THE DECEPTION. People in Tahrir square are escalating the situation on purpose to topple President Mubarak FOR THEIR OWN HIDDEN AGENDAS. This is TYPICAL OF THE MUSLIM BROTHERS, AND EVERYBODY IN THE STREETS OF CAIRO KNOWS THIS. We heard people on the streets saying that the plot to take over the country is now clear. THE INTERNATIONAL MEDIA DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS. The escalation of violence in Tahrir square is because of this. Egyptians who love Egypt, the millions that took to the streets yesterday, want this to end. They fully understand that president Mubarak is between a rock and a hard place, that he cannot quench the unrest in Tahrir through the army, so the people want to go to Tahrir to disperse the crowds there by themselves. People in Tahrir are vastly outnumbered. If Egyptians go the Tahrir square to take control of the situation, more chaos will erupt, giving a chance to the international media to blame the President even more.

If Egypt falls, then neighbouring countries are going to fall one after the other. WE NEED PRAYER, WE ASK FOR TRUTH, WE ASK FOR JUSTICE, and above all LORD, in wrath, REMEMBER MERCY. Stand with us. The Lord calls Egypt “My people”. He is calling on His HOLY COUNCIL in the land of Egypt to stand before Him, to make declarations in the heavenlies to establish a new ‘constitution’ in the land based on the principles of the Word of God, to establish a ‘new foundation’ for His kingdom to come. Pray for the schemes of the enemy to be annulled and voided. Pray for deception to be exposed. We humble ourselves and pray. We seek the Face of the LORD. We turn from our wicked ways. LISTEN TO US LORD, FORGIVE US, HEAL OUR LAND. In the Name of Jesus.

In Him, standing for God’s purposes in Egypt,

Rafik and Rania

Brace For Shock … October 23, 2010

Posted by stevekerp in Current Events, End Times, Harbingers.

It may have been more than coincidental that questions concerning the confirmation of the covenant were part of the discussion this past Wednesday, which on the Hebrew calendar was 12 Cheshvan. The pre-trib community has by-and-large accepted the idea that Daniel 9:27 will be fulfilled when “The Antichrist” confirms a peace covenant or treaty with Israel, affording the Jews peace and safety and an opportunity to rebuild the temple.

However, as discussed, the antecedent of “he” in this verse appears to point to the Messiah (verse 26) rather than to the “prince” in the clause modifying the reference to the people who would destroy the city and the sanctuary.

And now — suddenly — that very covenant that may be in view is being challenged by no less than the Vatican. While we on the forum were considering this prophecy, the Pope and a synod of bishops from the middle east were preparing their final statement culminating a two-week series of meetings. The statement, delivered earlier today, asserted that the Biblical concept of the ‘promised land’ cannot be used to justify “the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of Palestinians.”

According to ynetnews.com:

Greek-Melchite Archbishop Cyrille Salim Bustros, said:

‘We Christians cannot speak about the promised land for the Jewish people. There is no longer a chosen people. All men and women of all countries have become the chosen people.

‘The concept of the promised land cannot be used as a base for the justification of the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of Palestinians,’ he added. ‘The justification of Israel’s occupation of the land of Palestine cannot be based on sacred scriptures.’

(Vatican body asks UN to ‘end Israeli occupation’ )

Just days before his assassination on November 4, 1995, Yitzhak Rabin articulated a similar belief – that the Bible was not Israel’s title deed to the land. Rabin was a signer of the Oslo Peace Accords, which is often cited as the “covenant” which will be confirmed at the beginning of Daniel’s 70th week. However, this arrangement is not a covenant. (Note: Mr. Rabin died on the evening of 12 Cheshvan.)

The land covenant between God and the Jews is now on the table. As discussed on Wednesday last, I believe a very convincing “confirmation” would be something along the lines of Psalm 83. I cannot think of a more convincing way for the enemies of God to throw down a gauntlet. I believe we will soon see God’s response.

Stay tuned.
